About the Artist Dana Bates

I am so very happy that you have dropped by my little piece of the web!

My name is Dana Bates. Crafts'N'Scraps has been online for 10 years now and it has been a wonderful experience. I continue to create my own designs and have expanded to offering supplies and more to help others complete their projects. There's always new things to see!

I have been designing and selling handmade jewelry since high school and developed a love for ceramics in college. Anything can be made into something wonderful with a bit of imagination. I make crafts from scraps of clay, fabric, beads, wood, paper etc. Hence the name Crafts'N'Scraps.

Crafting is in my blood and I come from a family with some very talented artists. I make scrapbooks, paint Dungeons and Dragons figurines, do cross stitch, needlepoint, draw, paint, quilt, sew a little, do machine embroidery, and of course work with polymer clay and beads. My designs are influenced by my lifelong love of crafting. Some of my designs are quirky, but then again so am I. You know your a craft addict when you come up with designs in your sleep! I really love making them and I hope you will love them too!

About my work.....

Many of the things you see on the site incorporates polymer clay. It is a versatile medium that can be shaped into just about anything. I'm in love with its vibrant colors and it is so much fun to work with. All of my creations are original designs that you won't find anywhere else. They are all handmade by yours truly and the only machinery I use is a drill for the beads! There is love in everything I make.

It has always been a dream of mine to start my own craft business, so with the blessings and support of my friends and family, we've grown from 2 pages to almost 200!
